A panel of top athletes, sports media professionals, and sports medicine and management experts engaged in lively discussion and debate during the NYU Sports & Society Program’s Second Annual Sports in America Series: The Arthur Miller Dialogues. Moderated by NYU University Professor and NYU-SCPS Director of Public Dialogues Arthur R. Miller, the event, titled “Young Athletes: The Costs, Sacrifices, and Consequences,” was a collaboration between the NYU-SCPS Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management and NYU Langone Medical Center.
The panelists were introduced by Dr. Robert I. Grossman, Saul J. Farber dean and CEO of NYU Langone Medical Center and Bjorn Hanson, Ph.D., divisional dean of the NYU-SCPS Tisch Center. Moderated by Arthur R. Miller, NYU University Professor and NYU-SCPS director of Public Dialogues, panelists include: Jessica Abramovich, executive director of American Youth Football; Arthur L. Caplan, Ph.D., bioethicist and director of the Division of Medical Ethics, Department of Population Health at NYU Langone Medical Center; Dennis A. Cardone, D.O., associate professor of orthopaedic surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center and medical director of the New York City Public School Athletic League; Mary Carillo, correspondent for HBO Real Sports and NBC Sports and former professional tennis champion; Harry Carson, Pro Football Hall of Famer and former New York Giants captain and linebacker; Brian W.
