Manchester City are looking to assert the superiority in the Premier League when they take on Arsenal on Sunday. Pep Guardiola’s team will be able to extend the advantage over Arsenal to 12 points if they managed to win this game. Even though City have a poor record against Arsenal in recent times, this game is likely to witness one-way traffic. City come into the game after having opened up a five-point advantage over Manchester United, where they have also been experiencing success in the cup competitions too.
City were able to get a 4-2 win over Napoli in the Champions League. Crucially, City have had a day’s worth of extra rest coming into the game, although Arsenal have had a home game in the Europa League and did not travel to Italy – unlike City.
City have been able to win the last eight league matches without exception. With this amazing run of form, they have been able to stake a claim as the favourites for the Premier League title this season. There have been many occasions this season when City have redefined attacking football in England and they will continue to set the standards in this game.
Arsenal have been able to win four out of the recent five league games, but their away form has been extremely poor. The gunners have been able to remain in a position to challenge for the top four places up until now, but they may not stand much of a chance with this poor away form. Arsene Wenger has seen his team struggle against the top teams in the past. It would not be surprising if he decides to go with a defensive approach. After having learnt the lessons with heavy losses against the likes of Liverpool, a defensive approach may be the way to go. Even that may not be enough to prevent City from demolishing the backline. Manchester City are expected to get a comfortable win.
